The question for me is now whether, since I do not in fact use Pocket Cloud for file transfers, it would be advisable (and "safe") to uninstall Pocket Cloud or (perhaps preferably if feasible) to leave it installed but not have it activated automatically when the computer is plugged in. It also seems to make sense that in order to make remote file transfers at any time, a computer would have to remain awake.
I was aware of the Wyse-Dell connection.- and also that many Dell users were wondering how to get rid of it. Is it possible that Pocket Cloud is responsible for that?ĮDIT 2 - I note that Wyse Pocket Cloud is installed on the LAPTOP, but not on the DESKTOP computer.Įdited by saluqi, 24 April 2021 - 05:08 PM. In those cases the "source folder" of those "wrong" photos is always given as "DesktopBackground" - a folder that does not exist on either computer, I presume it's a default name specified somewhere in the Registry. On occasion, when I have changed a system setting on one of the networked computers, the OTHER computer displays the wallpaper slideshow photos from the computer I just changed settings on, instead of those it's supposed to display. That didn't work, but maybe that's what got Pocket Cloud involved? The LAPTOP was never involved in any of those exchanges. I tried, unsuccessfully, some time ago, to transfer photos from the cell phone to the DESKTOP computer over the network. Nothing to do with Pocket Cloud that I can see. For that purpose I connect the phone to the desktop using a USB cable, so the phone appears as an additional folder on the desktop computer. I occasionally upload photos taken with my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S9) to my DESKTOP computer. I have on a very few occasions (more than 3 years ago) used TeamViewer to control my desktop computer (at home) from the laptop (in a water office far from hoje) to solve a problem - but AFAIK TeamViewer is not PocketCloud. I do not recall ever having used Pocket Cloud. Note grammatical error, which I have reproduced as displayed.ĮDIT - so probably Pocket Cloud is preventing the laptop from sleeping.
When the laptop is plugged in, but NOT when it is on battery, there is something called "Wyse Pocket Cloud" running with the note "PocketCloud need computer to be awake for remote connection" or words to that effect.
